Focus and Scope

International Journal of Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics (ASD Journal), following the Open Access publishing model, aims to serve the international scientific community through dissemination of knowledge and experience on analytical, numerical and experimental methodologies pertaining to fluid-structure interactions of deformable bodies (aircraft, rotorcraft, rockets, wind turbines, etc…).
Original unpublished manuscripts are solicited on all areas of Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics, including but not limited to:

  • Stability and response problems related to fluid-structure interaction of flexible bodies;

  • Time-domain, linear and nonlinear aeroelasticity;

  • CFD-based aeroelasticity;

  • Experimental techniques in Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics;

  • Active aeroelastic control and aeroelasticity of adaptive/morphing structures;

  • Aeroelasticity of rotary wing aircraft;

  • Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics modeling and optimization.

Peer Review Process

ASD Journal adopts a rigorous peer review process. When a manuscript is received, the Editor or the Section Editor will first decide whether the manuscript meets the formal criteria specified in the Instructions for Authors and whether it fits within the scope of the journal. When in doubt, the editor will consult other members of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts are then assigned to a section editor, who sends it to 2-3 external experts for peer review. Authors are required to suggest at least 2 peer-reviewers (who do not have an conflict of interest) during the submission process.

For judging a submission's suitability for publication in the journal reviewers will check if manuscripts meet the following criteria:
- the material is original;
- the writing is clear;
- the study methods are appropriate;
- the data are valid;
- the conclusions are reasonable and supported by the data;
- the information is important; and the topic is interesting for our readership.

Publication Frequency

The ASD Journal publishes articles "continuously," i.e. articles are published online as soon as they are available (peer-reviewed and copy-edited). The Journal collates them into archival "issues" (about 4 issues per year) and "volumes" (one per year).

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement

The editors of Journal of Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics (ASDJ) are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. In evaluating the submitted works, the editors should limit themselves only to the intellectual content. The editors should not be influenced by matters such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. The editors can choose to ignore any material that breaks legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors must ensure the confidentiality of the submitted works until they are published. In case the editors decide not to publish a material, the manuscript should not be used for other purposes without the express written consent of the author.

The referees of ASDJ assist the editors in taking the decision of publishing a submitted manuscript. Also, by formulating suggestions to the authors, the referees can contribute to the improvement of submitted works. In order to achieve these goals, the referees have to evaluate objectively the submitted works and to clearly present their views regarding the manuscript. The referees are bound to treat the manuscript received for peer reviewing as confidential. As ASDJ employs the double blind peer review system, the communication regarding the submitted manuscript would be made exclusively between the referees and the editors of ASDJ. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

The authors submitting articles to ASDJ should draft their works in accordance to ASDJ Author Guidelines (See Author Guidelines). The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works. When the authors use other materials, sources should be appropriately cited. Any attempt of plagiarism should be followed by the rejection of the submitted manuscript. Authors should not submit the same work or describe essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor in correcting the material.
